How to get to Riad Emotion?
We are located in the medina of Essaouira. Our address is 18, rue Malek Ben El Morahal, Medina 44000 Essaouira, Morocco.
We are located close to both Bab Sbaa and Bab Marrakech of the medina entrances.
If you are not flying directly into Essaouira, you can arrange a bus (Supratours or CTM) or grand taxi to get there. You can arrange private transport from Marrakech, Agadir, and Essaouira airports through transport companies. Please contact us to recommend one for you.
Is Morocco safe?
Stay rest assured Morocco is a very safe destination and Moroccan hospitality is one unlike many places. Tourism is also a major source of economy in Morocco, so in general foreign visitors are welcomed and well protected. Most locals hold a special responsibility of keeping them safe. People are friendly and outgoing; don’t be intimated by some people’s approach. Be polite but firm if you are not interested. Like any place in the world you need to take caution and remain self-aware.

What is the local currency?
The local currency is Moroccan dirham MAD, it cannot be exchanged outside the country’s borders, so plan your currency exchange transactions and consider other forms of payment. Some places accept Euros and credit cards but many small shops and restaurants accept cash only in dirhams. It is best to always have small amounts of cash to use for small purchases and local establishments. There are currency exchange desks in the airports, some hotels and most banks. There are many currency exchange offices within Essaouira as well. You will have to show your passport to exchange money.
Can I use my Credit Card in Morocco?
Check with your bank to find out where you can withdraw cash using your credit card. Most banks in Morocco’s major cities have ATMs. Exchange currency as you go. The vast majority of purchases and services are paid for in cash. Larger establishments and restaurants accept credit cards but it is not always the norm.

What languages are spoken in Morocco?
Morocco’s two official languages are Arabic and Amazigh, or Berber, but virtually all Moroccans speak and understand French. Spanish is widespread in northern and southern Morocco.
But many people in Essaouira also speak English. Because Moroccans have a natural gift for languages, your stay is destined to be a pleasant one.
Do I need a visa to visit Morocco?
Please make sure to check your government website for required visa, duration and passport expiration limitations before booking with us to avoid any surprises. Each country has their formalities.
To avoid any problems when you arrive in Morocco, double-check to be sure you have a valid passport. EU passport holders with a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date do not require a visa to enter Morocco for tourist purposes.
Please note that Citizens of the following countries do not need a visa to enter the Kingdom of Morocco and may stay up to 90 days.
